Ronald Barnett, 69, Greenwood, passed away on March 13, 2012 at the Indianapolis University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. He was a resident of Greenwood.
Ronald “Ron” was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 27, 1943 to Kellie and Vernice Barnett. Ron’s father Kellie J. Barnett lost his life in military battle. Vernice married James Richard Fleener who raised Ron and three sisters in Mooresville, IN. Ron graduated from Mooresville High School in 1961. He attended Purdue University after graduation.
Ron spent several years working in the Insurance Industry in Indianapolis. He purchased the Bargersville Liquor Store more than 25 years ago, which he managed until his passing. His customers loved and enjoyed visiting with him as he always had a good story or some advice to offer. He became known as the unofficial Mayor of Bargersville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kellie Barnett, Richard and Vernice Fleener. He is survived by his son J and wife Kathy Barnett of Bargersville, IN, his three sisters Sandy (Larry) Harlow of Stoughton, WI; Darlene Wiegand of Greenwood, IN and Jackie (Allen) Richardson of Stillesville, IN. Ron was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Christopher Barnett and Maggie Jo Barnett whom he loved dearly.
Ron took great pleasure in watching NASCAR, campfires, cookouts and having good times with friends and family.
Memorial visitation will be will be from1:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, March 18th at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, followed by the Memorial Service at 4:00PM.
